As a moderate, I went in to this expecting the book to just be right-wing, spun talking points. Not so. The author did a good job of sticking to the facts and presenting a very logical argument for why left-wing messages often don't give you the full picture.

I enjoyed reading the book. While it's not enough to make me vote Red up and down the ticket, it was a good fact-check on many of the claims made by the left.

“How to Understand Left-Wing Political Spin” is a factual tour-de-force gently but effectively laying out the many beautifully sounding programs adored by the left and noting the unintended consequences (and often the destructive goals) of progressive and liberal programs over the years. Far from the rabid screed the left might expect, Clutton delivers the receipts calmly and truthfully. This book is for people of every political persuasion, particularly those who get their facts from MSM.

I really enjoyed this book. Much of the content I was already well aware of having woken up to the nonsense and defected from the left 10 years ago, but a lot I did not. It contains excellent summaries of progressive global initiatives and policies throughout history and up to the present day where we find ourselves having to deal with the stupidity of wokeness and failing immigration and inclusivity policies. I’ll no doubt be turning to this book when I need a quick comeback or to set the record straight on social media.

A factual representation and explanation of what's wrong with modern political ideologies. With the added sarcasm and satire, it makes for an entertaining read. But make no mistake, behind the humor is some serious stuff that should make any rational person roll their eyes. What a shame our country has reached the point where this type of book is needed.

Unfortunately, most people will continue to drink the media Kool-Aid and ignore reality.

well worth the time if you want to know what's really going on.

... to write and publish a book of "facts" and "data" while providing very few sources for his research. Unless you consider the author referring to himself continuously as a "genius" a valid source. He claims that the crime is higher in blue states. Since when? According to Forbes, 8 of the 10 most dangerous US states for crime are red while 7 of the safest are blue. To my mind, this mostly has to do with relaxed gun regulation.

As a Democrat, I'll be the first to admit that liberals do tend the drown in a glass of water and carry an over idealized approach to issues. But I'll take idealism any day over the cynical gaslighting of the GOP. Extemism on the left gives us paid maternity leave and medicare. Extremism on the right gives us the KKK, January 6th, and mass shootings.

I will give the author points for making the book very simple and interesting to read and compartmentalized in a way that's easy to understand. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the tone was not as condescending or derisive as the book cover and description might've suggested. I'm also pretty sure he meant the "Genius" self-label as tongue-in-cheek. He also ends the book with a call for people to do their own research and make up their own minds, which I couldn't agree more with. For this reason, I could still give it a few stars.
